Ashley Judd’s husband, race car driver Dario Franchitti, won the 91st Indianapolis 500 speedway contest on May 27.
Franchitti, who has been married to Judd for six years, beat dozens of other drivers to take the win in a slightly shortened race, which ended 85 miles short due to an uncontrollable rainstorm.
"The ups and downs throughout the day – what can I say? I'm in shock right now – it's been a rollercoaster month, and it was a rollercoaster day,” People quoted Franchitti, as saying.
The Indy win was one of the biggest triumphs of Franchitti’s career, and it was the second win for his team in nearly three years.
"It was going to come down to a dogfight, and there's a lot of strong cars. Whatever happened, if it came down to that dogfight, it was going to be hard, so I was hoping for the rain,” he said.
